Dear internet,

I forgive you. It's been a while since we talked. You've read every one of my emails; You let me hang my pictures, writings, and letters to friends on your social media refrigerator; You helped me study for my tests, you picked on me when I misspelled words in the comment sections, you let me waste days of my time (easily more than ten thousand hours) doing Ethnographic Fieldwork scrolling though people's digital venues of self-curation (i.e. Myspace, GeoCities). <3,  John  xoxo "send nudes" ... Ladies and gentlemen, fellow audiophiles, and seekers of the rarest musical gems, Rest assured, this ain't your run-of-the-mill spam email – I promise, no sponsors in sight. What we have here is a bona fide exploration of the musical universe, an adventure that'll leave you craving more or further your indifference. The Velvet Prelude Picture this: a guitar gently weeping, and plug-ins tinkering with Garage Band's heartstrings. A chord played on a MIDI controller sent us down a rabbit hole, yearning to uncover its origin. And there it was, our testimonial for all to see: @JohnCanales 57 minutes ago (edited) I am writing a song and searching for that cord on Yo

Note: This article takes 41 minutes to experience between the articles and supported media. I find myself in the heart of my eclectic sanctuary, a small space (1/3 the size of NPR's "Tiny Desk" office space), that serves as both a home studio and office, a YouTube haven, and an electronic treasure trove. Here, perched before a midi keyboard, I embark on a sonic adventure, experimenting with an array of VTS plugins—those digital counterparts to the enchanting pre-programmed sounds of childhood keyboards. Rolling Stone's Journey Rolling Stone magazine in print, truth be told, rarely graces my coffee table phone-charging end table. I reserve my monetary indulgences for other pursuits, such as savoring a Pumpkin Spice Latte or savoring a sumptuous steak over a humble burger. After all, the substance of most major magazines has found a digital home, sprawled across social platforms and the vast expanse of the web. Rolling Stone Magazine has a $1 annual digital subscripti
